Rev. Dr. Paul Koch

Rev. Dr. Paul Koch has provided emotional and spiritual care for individuals and congregations for 30 years. He feels blessed that since 2016, he does this as Regional Minister in the Christian Church of Mid-America. Living in Musselfork Township, Missouri, he has also served in Disciples of Christ, United Church of Christ, and Interfaith Ministries in Missouri, Iowa, and Alabama. Prior to ministry, he worked at NPR, National Public Radio, in Washington, DC. Paul is a proud Drury University 1986 alum. He received his Master of Divinity from Eden Theological Seminary in St. Louis, MO in 1993 and his Doctor of Ministry from Eden in 2007. He was ordained in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Mid-America in 1993.

As Regional Minister, Dr. Koch has a portfolio that includes Youth and Outdoor Ministries and Mid-America Men & Friends (Disciples Men).

Pertaining to Men’s Ministry, he authored When the Gym Is a Man’s Church (Scholars Press, 2013) and numerous men’s group discussion guides, has led weekly men’s groups, several annual men’s retreats and youth events in five states. He dedicates himself to helping all men and women seek encounters with creational/incarnational theology and avenues for spiritual transformation through annual retreats. He has served on the General Conference of Disciples Men.

Shortly after graduation from Drury, Paul married his college sweetheart, Marcia, and they have passed their 36th anniversary milestone. They have three children and are proud that they found different Disciples-related universities to attend. Their pride and joy is a puppy named Liza who was the kids’ Christmas gift in 2018.

Paul enjoys the outdoors, namely hiking and biking, the humanities, and teaching. For relaxation he likes reading, movies, listening to Golden Age of Radio and storytelling broadcasts, watching a certain five-letter cable news network, and “hanging out with the people Jesus loved being with.”
