CCNC-N Nonbinary Disciples' Celebration 2026

Pride month has come to an end and 4th of July is behind us, but the struggle in the land of the free and home of the brave goes on. Statistics show that nonbinary and transgender identification among college students is on the decline. Some might think people are coming to their senses or that the trend is fading, but those of us who identify as nonbinary may recognize a downward trend as a reaction to the current wave of transphobic politics and policy. While the US continues in the throes of struggle over our reality, nonbinary gender recognition is making strides in places like Japan, Mexico, and Puerto Rico. We have things to celebrate, and we have work to do. On both counts, we need community. Nonbinary folx may feel it to varying degrees depending on their contexts and level of social support, but we are a living, breathing controversy. Theologically speaking, we are God’s manifest contention with heteronormativity. But, so often, we can feel displaced or out of place in the church. On July 25, we are creating an opportunity to carve out a space that is uniquely ours in our region. Please use the attached flyer as a bulletin insert or handout and spread the word! And please join us if this feels like something you have longed for.
